Child
Life Services
at Hasbro Children's Hospital
Providing pediatric patients and their families with a sense
of normalcy during hospitalization.
When the normal pattern of a child or adolescent's day is interrupted
due to hospitalization, it is important for a patient and his family to
know that someone will respond to their psychosocial, developmental, and
educational needs. Hasbro Children's Hospital offers a
child life program that responds to those needs.
Goals
- To provide pediatric patients and their families with a sense of
normalcy and helps them respond to their hospital experience in a
positive way.
- To offer children and adolescents choices about things they would
like to do by planning activities and educational experiences which
enable them to make decisions, concentrate on play, enhance their
natural creativity and master new skills.
- To help children and adolescents maintain a sense of independence,
self esteem, and control.
