Alzheimer's Research Study

Is a loved one or someone
you care for eligible?

The Miriam Hospital Memory Loss Clinic is conducting an Alzheimer's research study. The study is for people diagnosed with a more advanced stage of Alzheimer's disease, and who are:

  • 50 years or older.
  • Living at home or in an assisted living facility (but not in a nursing home)
  • Supported by a caregiver who can bring them routinely to the clinical study visits
  • Currently not taking any prescription medication for Alzheimer's, such as Aricept, Exelon or Reminyl.

What is required?

For caregivers (and patients alike) the commitment is time—bringing the patient to scheduled clinical study visits for medical follow-up. If the person you are caring for meets these requirements, an appointment will be scheduled with a doctor at your convenience.

Those qualified to participate will receive:

  • Supervised medical care by health care professionals
  • All study-related visits, medication and staff care provided at no cost to the patient or to the caregiver

All patients who complete the 24-week study will be offered an additional 12 weeks of participation.

If you are involved in caring for a person with more advanced Alzheimer's, this research study provides supervised care by health care professionals who are involved in medical research, at no cost. At each study visit you will be able to talk to the health care professional about the research study and get important information about Alzheimer's. Compensation for time and travel may be provided.

If you are interested in your loved one, or the person for whom you are caring, participating in this study, please call Patricia Epple at 401-793-4053 or visit www.MemoryLossStudies.com.
