Services include diagnosis, rehabilitation and surgery of sport-related injuries for inpatients and outpatients over 17 years of age. 

Injuries frequently seen include:

  • rotator cuff injury
  • separations
  • dislocations
  • impingement
  • ligament tears
  • cartilage and meniscus tears
  • sprains and fractures

The service at Rhode Island Hospital is a teaching and research center for sports-related injuries and is a major affiliate with the Brown University School of Medicine. It is responsible for the health care of several professional, college and high school sports teams and athletes.

Areas of special expertise are in ligament surgery of the knee and shoulder, meniscal surgery of the knee and rotar cuff surgery of the shoulder.

Resources include state-of-the art arthroscopic equipment.
