Emergency Facilities

Rhode Island Hospital is dedicated to maintaining a state-of-the-art emergency facility. The Andrew F. Anderson Emergency Center has served as a model for several other departments nationally.

The facility includes:

  • 4 fully equipped critical care rooms (8-10 patient capacity) with independent x-ray and full monitoring capability
  • radiation and hazardous materials decontamination suite
  • 6 procedure rooms
  • dedicated CT scanning and ultrasound within the department
  • complete diagnostic imaging capability, including three fully equipped x-ray suites and reading room for processing the approximately 250 studies that are ordered each day
  • dedicated stat laboratory, as well as a mini-lab within the department
  • fiberoptics and photographic equipment
  • 35 individual treatment beds
